Illinois Tow Operator Struck and Killed on Interstate 255

A tow operator was struck and killed Wednesday, November 29, on Interstate 255 in Monroe County, Illinois.
Police said operator Wade Bivins, 57, of East Carondelet, was assisting a disabled vehicle on the southbound lanes near Columbia at 10:15 a.m.
As he loaded the vehicle and was walking along the left side of his truck he was struck by an oncoming car.
Bivins died at the scene.
The driver of the car remained at the scene.
