Texas news sources have reported that a Central Texas tow operator died May 30 from injuries received when he was struck by a vehicle on I-45 south of Fairfield.
At approximately 4:40 p.m. on May 28, David Isaac Simmons, 35, of Fairfield, was recovering a vehicle from the center median with his tow truck’s lights activated. A Toyota Corolla driven by a 22-year-old woman made an unsafe lane change, struck a Volvo sedan and careened toward the rollback tow truck, reports stated.
The Corolla travelled up the rollback bed and struck Simmons, who was at the truck’s controls.
Simmons was taken to a hospital in Waco, where he died on May 30.
The incident is under investigation.
