Pennsylvania Tow Operator Struck, Killed along I-78

A tow operator was killed Tuesday, July 21, as he assisted a disabled vehicle on the side of Interstate 78 in Bethel Township, Pa.
The operator was identified as Tyler A. Laudenslager, 29, of Halifax, Dauphin County.
State police said a vehicle traveling west on I-78 rear-ended a commercial vehicle then veered across the interstate and hit Laudenslager as he stood alongside the roadway, the vehicle then struck the tow truck before coming to a stop.
Laudenslager was pronounced dead at the scene. News reports stated that four occupants in the vehicle that struck him were taken to Reading Hospital for moderate to severe injuries. The driver of the commercial vehicle was not injured.
Police are investigating the crash.
