Virginia Tow Operator Struck and Killed on I-95 In Fredericksburg

A Virginia tow operator was struck and killed Thursday, June 11, on an entrance ramp to Interstate 95 in Fredericksburg, Va.

According to the Virginia State Police, operator Louis J. Rich, 29, of Locust Grove, Va., was on the shoulder of southbound entrance ramp at Plank Road when a 2020 Chevrolet Impala driven by Christopher R. Minor, 29, crossed the white fog line and hit him, then the tow truck.

Rich was taken to Mary Washington Hospital where he died from his injuries.

The driver of the Chevrolet was not injured and charged with reckless driving, driving without a license and failure to wear a seatbelt.

Police are investigating the crash.

Tow operator Derrick A. Marbury of Alexandria, Va., was struck by a vehicle and killed Monday, June 8, on Interstate 495 in Fairfax County, Va. He was assisting a disabled vehicle when he was hit in a multi-vehicle crash.
