Tow Operators Killed in Maryland and Canada Identified

The tow operators who were hit and killed on the roadside in two separate incidents have been identified by authorities.

David Reinerio Pineda Alvarez, 63, of Washington, D.C. was died Wednesday, Nov. 6, in Temple Hills, Md. He was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene. State police say the vehicle suspected of hitting Alvarez is a 1999-2007 white or beige Cadillac Escalade with possible passenger-side damage and ask anyone with information related to the crash call the Forestville Barrack at (301) 568-8101.

The operator struck on Thursday morning near Port Perry, Ontario, Canada, has been identified as Todd Burgess, 56 of Oshawa. Burgess was assisting a motorist stuck in a ditch when he was hit by a passing vehicle reportedly skidding and out-of-control on wet, snowy road conditions.

Both operators were pronounced dead at the scene.
