Oregon Tow Operator Shot and Killed in Confrontation
A tow truck operator was shot and killed Thursday morning, June 17, in a confrontation at an apartment complex in Hillsboro, Ore.
Hillsboro police say operator Patrick Ralph Sanford, 51, and another operator were in tow trucks moving vehicles from the parking lot to the street for crews preparing to resurface the lot.
Shortly before 9 a.m., Sanford and a resident of the complex got into a dispute, which escalated until the resident, identified as Matthew Alexander McAdoo, 42, shot Sanford multiple times. Sanford died at the scene.
Police arrested McAdoo, who was taken to the Washington County Jail and charged with 2nd-degree murder.
An apartment complex resident stated that the complex’s tenants were aware that the parking lot resurfacing would be taking place.
An investigation is continuing.
