Tow Operator Struck and Killed in South Carolina
According to a September 26, 2025, report on localaccidents.com in Beaufort County, SC, a tow operator who worked for Rahn’s Wrecker Service of Rincon, GA, was killed in what was described as a workplace accident.
At approximately 2:45 p.m. on September 25, operator Floyd Crespo had completed the recovery of a semi-truck that had become stuck on a curb on Hilton Head Island, SC. After lifting the trailer off the curb, the semi was driven from the scene. As Crespo was winching in the tow truck’s cables, the semi driver drove to a roundabout and back to the scene, attempting to re-enter a parking lot.
The semi sideswiped the tow truck, pinning Crespo between the tow truck and trailer.
Emergency crews responded, but Crespo was pronounced deceased at the scene.
