Texas Tow Operator Struck, Later Dies from Injuries

A tow operator was struck Tuesday, April 16, in Grapevine, TX, after being struck by a commercial vehicle driven by a man who fell asleep at the wheel.

Grapevine police responded to the scene on State Highway 121 at 11.55 p.m. Operator Mohammad Ahmed Abdelraheem Abu Rub, 27, was found lying on the highway with major injuries. His tow truck received rear damage.

The driver of the truck that struck him remained at the scene and told officers he had fallen asleep at the wheel and woke upon the impact of the crash.

The operator was provided aid until paramedics transported him to a North Texas hospital. He died the following day from internal injuries.

A death investigation of the crash has been initiated.
