Texas Tow Operator Struck and Killed in Houston Area
A tow operator was struck and killed by an oncoming vehicle on Tuesday February 13, while loading a vehicle in Northwest Harris County (Houston) Texas.
Authorities reported that at approximately 3:32 p.m., operator Simon Garcia was loading a disabled on his flatbed truck while parked on the right lane of the eastbound entrance ramp of the Northwest Freeway.
The driver of a Dodge Promaster van, also eastbound, reportedly steered into the left lane to avoid hitting the truck but struck a utility trailer being towed by another vehicle. The impact caused the Promaster to strike the tow truck and Garcia.
Garcia was taken to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the van remained on the scene and did not show signs of impairment, authorities said.
