South Carolina Tow Operator Killed in Hit-and-Run on Interstate 95
A tow operator was killed Sunday, November 7, in a hit-and-run crash on Interstate 95 in Dillon County, S.C.
Operator Steven Bullard, 48, of Red Springs, N.C., was assisting a motorist with a disabled vehicle at approximately 11:30 p.m. when what is believed to be a semi-tractor struck the operator and tow truck and kept traveling in the northbound lanes near mile marker 197, approximately 65 miles northwest of Myrtle Beach.
The operator died of injuries from the crash.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is searching for the suspected hit-and-run vehicle: a Volvo VNL, model year 2004-2007. Authorities say the truck is white, but could have previously been green, and has possible damage on the front right corner — missing the headlight, parts of the hood and grille.
Anyone with information is urged to call the highway patrol at 843-661-4705 or 800-768-1505. Or call CrimeStoppers at 888-274-6372.
