Pennsylvania Tow Operator Struck and Killed on I-80

Pennsylvania State Police have reported that a tow operator was struck by a vehicle and killed Saturday night, November 6, on Interstate 80.

The crash occurred near mile marker 184 in Clinton County.

According to reports, the operator, James. P. Corl, 80, owner of Valley Truck and Trailer in State College, died at the scene of the 9:30 p.m. accident near the Loganton interchange. Corl was removing a disabled semi-trailer parked on the south berm of the interstate when a vehicle traveled off the south berm and hit the rear of the trailer. Corl was outside of the tow truck and died in the impact.

The vehicle that struck the trailer caught fire, and bystanders who witnessed the crash removed the driver, who was transported to Lock Haven Hospital with injuries.

State police are investigating the incident.
