Paying it Forward

293

I received a text from a friend who wanted to tell me what happened when she and her husband were at a restaurant celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary. The waitress asked them if they were celebrating anything special, so they chatted a while and she congratulated them on their anniversary.

A little while later, the waitress brought over two complimentary drinks and advised my friend that their dinner was being paid for by the customers at table one — which was right across from my friend. This couple overheard them saying it was their 40th wedding anniversary and decided to buy them dinner. Of course, that started a conversation between the two couples, and they soon discovered each other’s names, where they were from, etc. My friend didn’t make a connection until the woman mentioned her last name. She was the daughter of the owner of the local towing company.

My friend was so taken back that they paid for their dinner. She decided she is going to pay it forward someday when the time seemed right. She ended with: “It sure is a small world, and their kindness was pretty awesome!”

I’ve heard many stories like this one, of how people in the towing industry will hear someone’s story and, without any questions, step up to help. It’s who we are, and what we do.

Let’s continue to spread that kindness to others.
