Oklahoma Tow Operator Bernardo Martinez Remembered By Wife, Colleagues
Friends, colleagues and family of Oklahoma tow operator Bernardo Martinez are remembering him as a man with a big heart who would go out of his way to help others.
Martinez, 41, of Oklahoma City, was struck by a passing vehicle July 8 on Interstate 44 near Fletcher, Okla., as he loaded a disabled pickup onto his tow truck.
The driver of the 2014 Toyota Prius that hit Martinez reportedly drifted off the Interstate at approximately 12:03 a.m. She is in critical condition at Comanche County Memorial Hospital.
Martinez worked for Sergio’s Towing Service in Oklahoma City, and took pride in being a tow operator.
Those who honor Martinez hope the tragedy will be a reminder for motorists to slow down and move over for anyone on the roadside.
