Missouri Tow Operator Dies from Injuries After Being Struck on I-70

Tow operator Ryan Brewer, 25 of Fulton, Mo., died Thursday, April 8, succumbing to injuries he received after being struck by a vehicle on Interstate 70 on March 29.

According to the Missouri State Patrol, Brewer, who worked for Approved Automotive & Towing of Fulton, was loading a vehicle on his tow truck in Callaway County when Matthew Link, 32, drove onto the shoulder and struck the rear of the car being loaded, which hit Brewer. He was airlifted to a hospital with critical injuries.

Link was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries.

Family, friends, and coworkers held a prayer vigil Thursday, and condolences were sent by the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office and the Fulton Police Department.

Police and the Bub Wilcox, president of Approved Towing, reminded the motoring public to slow down and move over, and to prevent distracted driving.

A GoFundMe account has been established for Brewer’s wife and daughter. A barbecue and silent auction will be held April 24, 10 a.m. at Memorial Park in Fulton.
