On October 1, Miller Industries Towing Equipment Inc. unveiled their first 100-ton rolling rotator — the Century® M100.  The unveiling took place in Chattanooga, Tenn., with over 1,000 members of the towing and recovery industry in attendance.

Miller Industries hosted the large-scale event which featured live demonstrations of their rotator billed as the highest capacity rotator ever made, offering a true 200,000-lb. lifting capacity that was “engineered, tested and documented to the highest SAE standards,” a Miller Industries press release states.

The M100 project was dubbed “Project Wildwood” to help maintain secrecy during its two years in development that included over 10,000 engineering hours.

The Century® M100 utilizes a rolling turret platform with a specially-designed custom roller system that enables 147 inches of turret travel when the boom is under load. The turret travel “allows the boom system to roll forward and backward helping position heavy loads where they are needed while giving operators maximum flexibility during tough recovery situations,” the release states.

The M100’s recovery boom extends to 48.5 feet of reach and has 25 feet of outrigger stance to remain stable at a maximum elevated hook height of 53.4 feet. With the recovery boom fully extended, the M100 has a working area of over 8,300 square feet. As with other Miller Industries rotators, the M100’s recovery boom can rotate 360 degrees continuously.

The M100 comes with dual 65,000-lb. capacity main recovery winches and two 30,000-lb. turret auxiliary winches. As an option, up to two additional 30,000-lb. drag winches can be added on the underside of the unit providing up to six winches.
