Illinois Tow Operator Dies, Son Injured in Christmas Eve Traffic Crash
According to news reports, A tow operator was killed and his 15-year-old son was seriously injured when the heavy-duty tow truck he was driving collided with another semi truck on December 24 in Kankakee County, Illinois.
The Illinois State Police reports that at approximately 7 a.m. on Christmas Eve a truck driver lost control of a semi while traveling on Illinois Route 17 near Grant Park and crashed head-on into another semi.
One of the semis was the tow truck, which rolled over. The other semi was severely damaged and caught fire.
The tow truck belonged to Ray & Wally’s Towing of Lynwood. The company posted on its Facebook that the driver of the tow truck died at the scene and his 15-year-old son who was riding with him received serious injuries.
The condition of the second semi driver was unavailable.
The cause of the crash is under investigation and it wasn’t immediately clear which driver lost control, a news report said.
