Georgia Tow Operator in Critical Condition after Hit-and-Run

A news report in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution states that tow operator Darrell Simpson, 26, of Marietta, Ga., is in critical condition after being struck by a hit-and-run driver at approximately 2 a.m. on I-285 in the Atlanta metropolitan area.
Simpson had stopped to assist the driver of a Mercedes-Benz SUV that had crashed into a center median and was in the center lanes. Simpson was hit after exiting his tow truck to check on the SUV driver.
Simpson was taken to a hospital where he was listed in critical condition.
