This is Your Deal

I don’t have much say when my husband purchases a tow truck, except I do advise pretty emphatically to look at the need versus the want when getting down to specifics.

To me, they are working trucks and don’t need anything fancy, but I also understand that I’m clueless as to what is needed, and that there are ever-changing technology and features today that make towing and recovery work that much better than years ago. And, just like any other major purchase, once you purchase your tow truck and start to use it, you almost always wish you would have ordered or added something different.

We’re in the process of remodeling our kitchen, so I asked my husband to go along with me to pick out appliances. I thought I knew what I wanted, but when looking at all the options — starting from the standard of each appliance all of the way up to the elite options — I was a bit overwhelmed. I had a dollar amount in mind too, but seeing the prices and options of each model was quite an eye-opener.

The salesman gave his pitch on each appliance, and while I appreciated him explaining the features, etc., when I asked my husband his thoughts, his answer was, “this is your deal”.

Hmmm, not much help there. I guess I can’t blame him as he rarely asks for my advice when purchasing a tow truck or equipment, and I’m pretty sure I would have had the same answer.

The salesman wasn’t pushy and printed out several options for me to look over. Now I have to remind myself of my own advice — the need versus the want.
