Woman Charged in the 2018 Death of Michigan Operator Nader Chehadi Sentenced to Prison

An Ann Arbor, Mich., woman charged in the crash that killed tow operator Nader Chehadi and a passenger in her vehicle has been sentenced to serve 10 to 30 years in prison.

Andre-A Edwards, 27, was behind the wheel of a Ford Explorer that crashed into the rear of a disabled school bus on May 29, 2018. The bus was on the side of I-94 near U.S. 23. According to news reports, Chehadi was at the rear of the bus when the crash occurred and died at the scene.

A passenger in Edwards’ car was severely injured and died days later. Edwards and her three children ages 2, 4 and 5 were seriously injured in the crash.

Edwards was arrested and charged with two counts of second-degree murder, four counts of operating while intoxicated causing death and two counts of operating a vehicle while license suspended causing death, three counts of second-degree child abuse, three counts of operating while intoxicated causing serious injury, two counts operating while intoxicated third offense and three counts of operating a vehicle with a suspended license causing serious injury.
