Wisconsin Tow Operator Extricated from Tow Truck After Semi Crash

A tow operator in Milwaukee, Wis., had to be extricated from his tow truck Monday, August 26, after it was hit by an out-of-control semi on I-43 North. The operator was working on a previous crash on the road shoulder with the semi slammed into the parked tow truck with the operator inside.

The impact caused the trailer to break loose from the tractor as the combination overturned.

The operator and driver of the semi were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The semi driver was issued a citation for driving too fast for conditions.

UPDATE: According to a report on WXOWNews 13, Tow operator Josef “Joe” Altenhofen is recovering from his injuries received in the crash.
