What’s In Your Success Toolbox?
The theme for the 2009 Wisconsin Towing Association’s tow show was “Building on Our Future.” At that time, I put in a small cardboard box that looked like a toolbox, a “Tools for Success Kit.”
Here’s a list of what was in the toolbox:
Pennies — Because teamwork makes good “sense”
Band Aid — Because together we can make things better
Tootsie Roll — A reminder that each team members plays an important “roll”
Rubber Band — A reminder that good team players must be flexible
Puzzle Piece — Because without you, the team would not be complete
Chewing Gum — To help our team “stick” together
Mint — Because great teamwork requires “commit-mint”
I know my Tools for Success Kit is a play on words, but I believe the message of each “tool” is clear. I think the following quote by Green Bay Packers coach Vince Lombardi sums up the tool of commitment as one of the most valuable for success:
“Individual commitment to a group effort – that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work”
