TRAA: Congressional Letter to FTC on Towing Industry’s Behalf

99

Towing and Recovery Association of America (TRAA) press release:

TRAA has been hard at work defending the towing industry against the Federal Trade Commission’s proposed “Junk Fee” Rule. Last week, as a direct result of TRAA’s efforts, a bi-partisan letter was sent from Congress to the FTC urging the agency to leave the towing industry out of the rule.

This letter was led by Democratic Representatives Greg Stanton of Arizona, Val Hoyle of Oregon, and Republican Representative Kat Cammack of Florida. These efforts were made possible thanks to all of your hard work during TRAA’s Hill Day and in the numerous follow-up meetings and conversations.

In addition to our Hill Day meetings in March, TRAA was able to leverage comments the Oregon and Florida state associations submitted to the FMCSA’s recent call for input on a Towing Fees Transparency Task Force. And finally, a special thank you to our members in Florida for their work to secure Representative Cammack’s support.

We will continue to advocate on behalf of the industry as it relates to the junk fee rule and beyond and keep you apprised of any significant developments.

Please do not hesitate to contact TRAA with any questions.

Sincerely,

Alyssa Ring
