South Dakota Tow Operator Struck and Killed on Roadside

A tow operator died Saturday, Jan. 4 in Watertown, S.D., after being struck by a vehicle.

Dale Jones, 47, of Watertown was hit at 8:35 a.m. while attempting to recover a vehicle from a ditch.

The vehicle that struck Jones was driven by Quentin Godes, 76, who lost control of the vehicle. He has been cited and charges are pending, police say.

The accident is under investigation by the Watertown Police Department and the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
