“Seven months into the battle with COVID and employers are still being sent mixed messages from federal and local government on how to best protect their workers,” states a press release about the webinar event. “Are masks effective or not? What other personal protective equipment should employees be wearing? What are the employer’s responsibilities in protecting workers against COVID? We will begin this course with a review of the employer’s requirements under OSHA. An overview of engineering and administrative controls will be provided, covering topics such as: COVID screening, touchless thermometers, hand sanitizers vs. hand washing, cleaning vs. disinfecting, and social distancing. We will transition into a discussion on the last line of defense –personal protective equipment (PPE). Participants will learn how to select the most appropriate PPE and learn its limitations. We will review the difference between face masks and respirators and ways to spot counterfeit respirators. We will also discuss the pros and cons of wearing face shields and other PPE.”
