Mississippi Tow truck driver killed was an off-duty police officer

The Desoto County Mississippi Sheriff’s Department has identified the tow truck driver killed on Tuesday, April 23, as Tommy R. McKee. According to news reports, McKee was loading a car onto his tow truck near the East Commerce Street exit of northbound I-55 when he was struck and killed by a vehicle driven by Devan E. Simpson, who was issued a citation for failure to move over.
McKee was also an off-duty police officer for the town of Crenshaw, Mississippi,
