Illinois Tow Operator Struck and Killed Was Responding to Previous Crash

The tow operator who was struck and killed on the Eisenhower Expressway in Maywood, Ill., has been identified as Andrew Dove-Ferderer, 23, of Berkeley, Ill. He was an operator for O’Hare Towing Service of Downers Grove.

The crash occurred on Wednesday, Jan. 1.

Illinois State Police say Maywood had responded to tow vehicles from a previous crash. He was standing outside his tow truck on the right shoulder with emergency lighting activated when a gray Nissan veered from the right lane and struck him.

He was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Nissan was treated for minor injuries.
