Get With the Program
The are many things to do and many places to visit — but what if you don’t know about them? Or have fears or worries?
This is where a teacher can be helpful. They have seen, done and learned things you don’t know or understand, but after the teacher has taught you, it’s up to you to actually do it. There is a Chinese Proverb that says: “Teachers open the door, but you must walk through it.”
Learning from teachers and books is just a small example of what is there for you to experience. For example, you can watch how a roll-over of a tractor-trailer is done, but it’s not the same as actually doing the rigging and recovery yourself, and the feeling you get when it’s safely uprighted. If you take the chance and walk through the door, it opens many other experiences.
How does this quote apply to your life? How often do you leave your comfort zone? Try a new food? Or discover new things and give them a try?
For me, all of the changes in technology for so many things in my life has me feeling overwhelmed. I didn’t know how to change something on my granddaughter’s tablet and she said to me, “Grandma, get with the program.”
And you know what? She’s right.
If I want to experience what all this new technology can do for me to make my life better, I had better put my anxiety aside, learn some more, leave my comfort zone, walk through that door and get with the program.
