California Tow Operator Struck, Injured on the Roadside

A 49-year-old tow operator was struck and seriously injured Sunday, Feb.23 at 10:38 a.m. on Highway 79 in Beaumont, Calif. According to the California Highway Patrol, the operator, who has not been identified, was at the scene of a previous crash recovering an overturned car when he was struck by a Toyota Corolla being operated at an “unsafe speed” by a 29-year-old Riverside woman.
The operator was taken to Riverside University Health System Medical Center in Riverside County.
The female driver has not been arrested and while police are investigating the incident, they have ruled out drugs and alcohol as possible contributing factors.
