Advice and Counsel
In the Tow Times August issue is an article titled: “If I Had to Do It Over Again.”
They did a survey on “thoughts for tow operators just starting out.” I consider the responses as words of both advice and counsel.
At times, I wonder if I knew back when my husband and I first started our service and towing business what I know now, would I do it over again?
The article has some great opinions and recommendations for tow operators just starting out. The responses offered good suggestions, guidance and information. I liked how they were genuine and honest words offered as a guide regarding all aspects of starting out such as self-confidence, training, managing a business, competition and joining a state association.
The answers to the “Don’t do it!” section were real too. Relationships and the financial bottom line are true risks in the towing industry for sure.
Believing in yourself is the first step. I was scared and anxious when we first started our business, but I knew my husband was a hard worker, and we were in it together for the long haul. Lots of ups and downs over the years, but with the right training and advice from others, you can do it.
As one response in the article said, “Don’t let anyone kill your dreams! The towing industry is a long and honorable profession.”
