AAA Activates Tow to Go for Fourth of July Weekend

488

To help make roadways safer during the Fourth of July weekend, AAA will be activating its “Tow to Go” program as an option to driving while impaired.

The service, which is available free to AAA members and non-members, will be in effect from 6 p.m. Friday, July 1, through 6 a.m. Tuesday, July 5.

Those needing a tow can call 855-2-TOW-2-GO or 855-286-9246 and AAA will send a tow truck to transport the person and their vehicle to a safe location within a 10-mile radius. AAA says the Tow to Go program should be treated as a backup plan to driving impaired.

The service is available in Florida, Georgia (excluding Savannah), Iowa, Michigan, North Dakota, Nebraska, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Colorado (Denver), Charlotte, North Carolina, and in Fort Wayne and South Bend, Indiana.

Additional Tow to Go information:

  • Appointments cannot be scheduled in advance to use “Tow to Go.” It is designed as a safety net for those that did not plan ahead. Always choose a designated driver before celebrating.
  • In some situations, AAA may need to make other arrangements to get an impaired individual a safe ride home.
  • “Tow to Go” may not be available in rural areas or during severe weather conditions.
