Woman Convicted in Dragging Death of Tow Operator to Receive Early Prison Release

The woman convicted in the dragging death of Colorado tow operator Alan Lew Rose in 2011 will receive an early release from prison.

Detra Farries of Colorado Springs was convicted of vehicular homicide and other charges in Rose’s death and sentenced to 20 years in prison.

As Rose was attempting to tow her SUV, Farries allegedly drove from the scene. Rose’s legs became ensnared in the a broken tow cable and he was dragged behind her vehicle.

Farries maintained she didn’t know Rose was being dragged.

According to news reports, Farries has been accepted into an Arapahoe County community corrections program where she will continue serving her sentence in a less-secure residential facility. Farries could also be eligible for work release.
