Jack SchrockIn 1968 my folks bought a new four-door Lincoln Town Car. My mother was about five feet tall and probably didn’t weigh a hundred pounds and was challenged just to open and close the driver’s door on this car. And the driver’s seat would barely adjust to accommodate her small size.

Now fast forward to today’s mini cars. I’m talking about the ones built for just two people and the front end opens for access. Acceleration isn’t much and high-speed freeway traffic (especially with heavy trucks) is not a good environment for these mini cars. But, viagra so what? Mom never drove on the freeway anyway, and I can see how she could get in and out of her narrow driveway and then scoot around town in one of these little cars with ease compared to the huge lead barges of half century ago. Besides, the mini probably gets 100 miles to a bale of hay where their much larger predecessors measured fuel mileage by the yard instead of the mile.

I’m certainly not selling small cars today, just suggesting that it’s time we all started thinking “smaller.” I remember Dave Oakley (Holmes rep for California in the 60s and 70s) complaining about all the small cars from overseas taking over his market. Well they did, and now they’re getting even smaller. I should know because we’ve got two of them.

And, as far as T & R goes, hauling one of these minis around would be easy and quick, again as compared to much larger vehicles of yesterday — no — today.
