Seattle Woman Pleads Guilty in Towing Operator’s Death

A Seattle woman pleaded guilty to charges of vehicular homicide and hit and run in the death of a tow truck operator. On Sept. 24, website like this 2010, store at 1:26 a.m., investigators said Shavelle Lewis, 21, swerved across five lanes of traffic on Interstate 5 and struck William Anthony “Tony” Padilla, 51, who was kneeling beside a disabled vehicle at a Spokane Street entrance ramp. Padilla, of Burien, died at the scene. He was employed with GT Towing in Seattle.

Lewis made a U-turn after the crash and fled from the scene. Troopers found her and a 31-year-old passenger nearby. Lewis smelled of alcohol and had bloodshot eyes, Troopers said.

Lewis, who has had 14 arrest warrants since 2008, has previous convictions for hit and run, prostitution and drug crimes. She was arrested on warrants two days before she struck Padilla and released a day before the crash, a news report said.
