Only Five?

We have five senses – sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch. I think we should add one more important sense to the list – common sense. While the first five senses apply to the organs in our body, common sense is a way of taking in facts and coming to an intelligent conclusion. In other words, using the brain.

While there are a lot of blonde jokes out there, I don’t think a lack of common sense is limited to the color of your hair.

Running a towing and recovery company, I’ve seen and heard about — as many of you have done recoveries on — trucks getting caught under  bridges that are clearly marked with height limits. I guess GPS could be blamed for a lot of mishaps but really? I guess sometimes – for our industry anyway – not having common sense keeps our tow trucks busy.

April Fools Day is right around the corner. It’s a day when pranks and tricks will be played hopefully for laughs and a “gotcha” moment. Considering the way we’re receiving news lately — and especially on April first —  it might be a great idea to call on all of your five senses and add common sense, good sense and horse sense.

Happy Easter and Happy Spring – enjoy the blessings that come with both.
