New Multi-deck Carrier Option from Century

Apr 26th, 2013 | By | Category: New Products

Century’s new multi-deck option for its 16 Series LCG Carrier allows operators to transport three to four cars depending on configuration. The optional second deck hydraulics lowers onto the main deck, sickness allowing for safer loading and securing of the vehicle as compared to over-the-cab decks. The deck is raised and tilted to provide clearance for the next vehicle.

Eliminating the additional overhang of an over-the-cab rack in front of the chassis also allows the carrier to be ordered with a main carrier deck up to 30 feet in length compared to 28 feet on most four-car systems. The unit can be ordered in a 24-foot length for three-car applications. Both decks are constructed using aluminum extrusions with built-in drop pockets in the upper deck to provide additional height clearance.

Century’s auxiliary over-the-deck system design has been manufactured in Miller’s European manufacturing facilities, Boniface Engineering in the United Kingdom and Jige in France, for many years, but has just recently been introduced to the North American market.
