New Jersey Bill Aims to Eliminate Storage Fees When Companies Are Closed

Mar 10th, 2011 | By | Category: National News

A Hoboken, ambulance N.J., drug bill that will prohibit private towing companies from charging storage fees on the days the establishments are closed was advanced yesterday by the Assembly’s Consumer Affairs Committee, no rx according to a news report.

The provisions of the bill would only apply toward non-consensual towing.

At least one towing company in the city is opposed to the bill, saying the bill would increase his cost to do business, and that the fees collected for storage help pay the cost of insurance, the report states.

The bill, which now advances to the full Assembly, passed the Consumer Affairs Committee in a 3-2 vote, with Republicans casting the dissenting votes.
