Towing Equipment Search:

Looking Back

How often does the weather come up in your conversations? I would think almost daily in the towing and recovery profession. Knowing what the weather is going to be helps in planning for the day and what equipment and personnel might be needed. It seems that even with all the fancy radar and equipment meteorologists have they still don’t always get it right. I think the way my bones ache can better predict what kind of weather we’re going to have.

Looking back at 2017, the different weather situations we had across the country was a big topic that affected the towing and recovery industry. Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria, brutal winds causing massive firestorms, drought conditions, baseball-sized hail, extreme rainfall and flooding, and massive snow storms dropping unbelievable amounts of snow — wow!

While towers are usually accustomed to the weather that hits their areas of the county, I don’t think anyone was prepared for what Mother Nature dished out this year.

No matter the weather situation, towers are available 24/7 — 365 and because of severe weather, they often find themselves in dangerous situations. While the weather is not something we can control, how we react to what’s dished out is something we can control.

Please, I encourage all of you take extra precaution when you head out on the roadways, and I hope and pray you have a happy, safe and prosperous 2018.
