Lil’ Big

Lil’ Big is the featured truck in the Trucks on Call department of the Tow Times August issue. It’s the the newest truck in the Berry Bros. Towing & Transport fleet in Oakland, Calif. Truck #128 is a 2012 Freightliner with a Detroit DD13 engine (putting out 350 hp), 10-speed transmission and a GVW of 33,000-lbs. On the back is a Century 3212 16- ton low-profile body with twin winches, extendable boom, integrated Century wheel-lift and an SP 12000 sidepuller.

The truck was built by Gordon Iwata and David Solis. The chassis was spec’d by Bob Baldwin of Golden Gate Truck Center. The wrecker was purchased from Sacramento Wrecker Sales — Glenn Neil, Larry Burkland and Brandon Neil. Basic signage is by Same Day Signs. Custom sign work is by “Moe”, Jerry Davis. The truck’s painter is Gary Strehle of Strehle’s Body Shop in Oakland.
