I Should Know Better

Whoever said you shouldn’t talk religion or politics is totally right. But these hot topics are brought up in many daily conversations. A customer came in and, as is sometimes the case, some political comment came up and we starting talkingI should know better than to even start talking on this subject.

I sometimes listen to talk radio and when feeling adventurous turn on the cable network news. I should know better as the conversations ultimately have my blood pressure up.  The pointing of fingers, the biased comments and not having the facts leaves you shaking your head. It’s enough to give you a headache along with the rising blood pressure.  To me, a lot of news doesn’t come close to common sense.

I saw a website post asking for comments on the subject of being friends with towers who are competitors. Again, I should know better than to start reading the posted comments. For the most part I was pleasantly surprised to see many replied that yes, they are friends with their competitors. But there were some who said no way. They would say hi, but to sit down for coffee? Ain’t happening. Some asked why would they? When that company would turn around and stab them in the back first chance they got?

I like to see when towers realize the importance of having both a friendship and a working network with other tow companies. It brings the saying “united we stand, divided we fall” to mind. The towing and recovery industry will not get the respect we deserve if we don’t stay united. This probably is a hot topic too, and I should know better than to write about it, but because it is a hot topic, we should discuss it.
