Cracks or Bent Components on Wheel-lifts

Jan 2nd, 2018 | By | Category: Tow Tip

“If you find cracks or bent components when inspecting welded areas and stress points on a wheel lift, L-arms and forks, check with your local equipment distributor before you attempt to weld or “beat it back into shape” with a large hammer, or, as one operator did, place a bent L-arm on the shop floor and drive the truck over it to straighten it. (It failed shortly afterward and dropped a vehicle.) These components are often made of high-tensile steel and may require special welding or heat treatment to retain their factory rating.”
