Bank Closes Fund to Benefit Woman Accused in Dragging Death

Mar 18th, 2011 | By | Category: National News

News reports say a Colorado Springs bank has closed the account on a fund to benefit a woman charged in the dragging death of a towing operator. Detra Farries, 32, was charged with vehicular homicide in the death of Allen Rose, 35, who died after being dragged behind an SUV driven by Farries.

According to news reports, Rose was attempting to tow the illegally-parked SUV Feb. 23 when Farries jumped behind the wheel and drove away. A cable attached to the SUV ensnared Rose’s legs, and he was dragged over a mile.

The fund, created by Stephen S, Luera, 54, was to benefit Farries’ eight children and help defray legal expenses. The bank closed the account because it “didn’t want to take sides,” a report said.
