A Good Cup of Coffee

What do you think of when you think of coffee? My husband had an accident tow near the entrance to the local Starbucks, symptoms and as he was loading the wreck on to the flatbed, people were honking their horns for him to hurry up. Go figure.

I remember TV coffee commercials advertising Columbian coffee with Juan Valdez and his mule Conchita, and who could forget the Folder’s commercial with the slogan, “The best part of waking up, is Folders in your cup?” Or Maxwell House’s “Good to the last drop.”

I met some tow lady friends for breakfast this morning. These ladies are like therapists for me. With them, I can talk about pretty much everything and feel so much better afterwards.

After breakfast we lingered for a while over coffee. We talked about business (or the lack thereof) and how the winter weather (or lack thereof in our part of the country) has affected the bottom line in the checkbook. We discussed who was going to the TRAA L&L Conference in March, and the Florida Tow Show in April. We got up-to-date with what’s happening with our families, we talked about our aches and pains, the upcoming Daytona race, had a few laughs, and, of course, discussed politics and our husbands.

Before I knew it an hour had gone by and I stopped counting how many times the waitress filled my coffee cup. One of my tow lady friends had brought us chocolates. Can’t get any better than that, can it? Good food — including the chocolate treats, good conversation with ladies who know exactly where I am coming from — all while sipping a good cup, or maybe a few cups, of coffee.

For the record, while I love a good cup of coffee, you won’t find me honking my horn to get in line for one.
